Learn the professional process of life-casting a full head and shoulders on a live model. This hands-on workshop covers casting, cleaning, and preparing the positive cast. You’ll also cast smaller pieces (like hands & fingers) and be introduced to modern 3D scanning techniques used in film FX. Essential skills for any FX artist or aspiring sculptor.
One Saturday | 8-Hour Workshop | 10AM–6PM
What you will learn:
- Preparing the model safely for life casting
- Using alginate & plaster bandages
- How to apply a bald cap for life casting (Live model)
- Life casting a full human head (Live model)
- Life cast cleanup, correction and troubleshooting
- Silicone body casting techniques (Hand/Arm)
- Clay pouring & sculpting a prop hand
- Pouring basic plaster or resin positives
All materials provided. No experience required.
All life casting products, materials, tools, and supplies are fully provided by the instructor for the duration of the class. Students do not need to bring anything with them, and no prior makeup or special effects experience is required. This workshop is designed to be beginner-friendly while still teaching professional, industry-standard techniques in a hands-on learning environment.
